My philosophy of counseling is grounded in the belief that every person has the ability to grow, heal, and create meaningful change when given support, understanding, and a safe environment. I believe counseling should be a place where clients feel heard, respected, and accepted without judgment. My goal as a counselor is to help clients better understand themselves, process difficult experiences, and develop healthier ways of coping with lifeβs challenges.
My counseling approach is primarily integrative, with strong influences from Person-Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I value the importance of empathy, authenticity, and building a strong therapeutic relationship while also helping clients identify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that may be impacting their mental health. I believe counseling should be both supportive and practical, providing clients with encouragement as well as tools for growth and change.
I view the counselor-client relationship as collaborative. While I may provide guidance, support, and clinical insight, I believe clients are the experts of their own lives. Through active listening, empathy, and trust, I hope to create an environment where clients feel comfortable exploring emotions, challenges, relationships, and personal goals.
I also believe cultural competence and ethical practice are essential parts of counseling. Every client brings unique experiences, values, beliefs, and backgrounds into the counseling process. As a counselor, I strive to approach each individual with openness, respect, and compassion while maintaining professionalism and ethical responsibility guided by the ACA Code of Ethics.
My journey into counseling began through experiences mentoring youth, supporting others through difficult situations, and recognizing my passion for helping people grow emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Before pursuing counseling, I earned a bachelorβs degree in marketing, but over time I realized I felt most fulfilled when encouraging and walking alongside others during challenging seasons of life.
As I continue developing as a counselor, my goal is to provide counseling that is compassionate, evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and rooted in genuine human connection.
